Hello

: Slip Casting

Variations

With slip casting, the water is completely absorbed into the mold, whereas in drain casting, the slip may removed after a predetermined thickness of ceramic has been deposited onto the mold's walls.

Continuous Tape Casting

Also known as blade casting. The slip is cast onto a moving, flat surface and scraped down to a thin layer with a squeege-like blade called a doctor blade. This result is sheets of ceramic with a very accurate thickness.

Pressure Slip Casting

The advantage of this type of slip casting is that the pressurized slip adheres to the walls of the mold more evenly and with fewer defects than with traditional slip casting. This is being researched by Dr. Hans-Jürgen Richter.
