Project Shop
In the typical project
manufacturing system, a product must remain in a fixed position
or location during manufacturing because of its size and/or weight.
Therefore, it is necessary to bring the materials, machines, and
people used in its fabrication to the site. Examples are in locomotive
manufacturing, large aircraft assembly, and ship building. They
all use a fixed-position layout.
