Metal sheets with thickness
greater than 6 mm (1/4 in) are referred to as plates. They are used
for structural appliances such as ship hulls, boilers, bridges,
girders, machine structures, and nuclear vessels.
Sheets with thickness
less than 6 mm are generally used for automobile bodies, appliances,
containers for food and beverages, and kitchen and office equipment.
